(Innovation Ecosystem) The OU Innovation Ecosystem
How the University of Oklahoma supports local inventors.
The University of Oklahoma is a driving force in economic impact, providing the tools and resources for commercializing innovation, and preparing the next generation of citizen leaders for success in a knowledge-based global society.
A critical component of OU’s innovation ecosystem is our relationship with external economic development stakeholders.
Often, the sparks of OU innovation can be traced back to the offices and labs of our faculty, staff, and students. With over 3,500 faculty and 20 colleges, invention comes from all fields across our campuses.
The 20,000 sq. ft. Innovation Hub was launched in September 2016 to increase innovation and entrepreneurship across OU and the broader community.

The University of Oklahoma is a leader in entrepreneurship education. When the undergraduate curriculum began in 2003, OU was one of the first programs to offer classes and experiential learning opportunities focused on the skills necessary to navigate the multi-faceted world of starting and running an early-stage business.
Through the Ronnie K. Irani Center for the Creation of Economic Wealth (I-CCEW), student teams developed a launch plan for Pinying using a “human centered design” approach.
